Privacy Policy

CarLog AI (com.carlogai.app) · Last updated: August 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the CarLog AI mobile application (the “App”) collects, why it collects it, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. The App is created and operated by Astrit Boqolli, trading as InkFang Studios (“we”, “us”).

The short version. CarLog AI works without an account, and by default your vehicle data stays on your phone. If you choose to sign in, your data is synced to your private cloud account. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below who help operate the App.

1. Information we collect

Data you provide

DataWhenWhy
Name, email address, account identifier Only if you create an account (Google Sign-In or email & password) To create and secure your account and sync your data across devices
Vehicle details — year, make, model, trim, colour, mileage, VIN, licence plate, photos When you add or edit a vehicle Core app functionality: tracking your vehicle and its maintenance
Maintenance records, service logs, invoice photos, fuel fill-ups, costs, odometer readings When you log them To calculate service status, health score, reminders, and cost reporting
Community profile name, @username, bio, posts, comments, shared vehicles, direct messages Only if you use the optional community features To display your content to other users and enable messaging
AI chat messages When you use the AI assistant To answer your questions about your vehicle

Data collected automatically

DataDetails
Crash reports and diagnostic logs Collected by Google Firebase Crashlytics when the App crashes or misbehaves, so we can fix it.
Device and installation identifiers Generated by Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase to group crash reports and measure basic, aggregated app usage. Not used for advertising.
Subscription status If you subscribe to CarLog AI Pro, Google Play provides us with a purchase token, product ID, and expiry date so we can verify the subscription is genuine and active. We never see or receive your payment card details — all payment processing is handled by Google Play.

Location

Location access is optional and only used while you are actively using a feature that needs it. If you grant location permission:

Location is used only at the moment the feature runs. We do not store your location, we do not keep a location history, and we do not use location for advertising or tracking. If you deny or revoke location permission, the rest of the App continues to work normally.

Bluetooth and OBD-II data

If you connect an OBD-II adapter, the App reads engine data and fault codes over Bluetooth directly from your vehicle. This data is processed on your device. It leaves your device only if you choose to sync it or ask the AI assistant about it.

2. How your data is stored

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use the following service providers, who process data only to provide their service to us:

ProviderWhat is sentPurpose
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Crashlytics, Analytics) Account details, your synced vehicle and community data, crash reports, device identifiers Accounts, cloud sync, backend processing, crash reporting
Anthropic (Claude API) Your AI chat messages and relevant vehicle context (e.g. make, model, mileage, service status) Generating AI assistant responses for CarLog AI Pro subscribers. The free assistant runs entirely on your device and sends nothing.
Google Play Billing Subscription purchase token and status Processing and verifying subscriptions
NHTSA (U.S. Department of Transportation) — vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov The VIN you enter, only when you use “decode VIN” to auto-fill vehicle details Looking up your vehicle’s year, make, model, and trim
NHTSA — api.nhtsa.gov Vehicle make, model, and year Checking for open safety recalls
OpenStreetMap Overpass API — overpass-api.de Your approximate coordinates, only when detecting a nearby fuel station Identifying nearby fuel stations to help log a fill-up

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms.

4. Your choices and rights

5. Data retention

Cloud data is kept while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request. Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days. AI chat messages are stored in your account so your conversation history persists, and are deleted when you delete the conversation, the vehicle, or your account.

6. Children

CarLog AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules that restrict each account to its own data. Subscription purchases are verified server-side against the Google Play Developer API. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Last updated: August 2, 2026

These terms and conditions apply to the CarLog AI app (the “Application”) for mobile devices, created by Astrit Boqolli (the “Service Provider”).

By downloading or using the Application, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before using the Application.

Use of the Application

Unauthorized copying or modification of the Application, any part of the Application, or our trademarks is strictly prohibited. Attempts to extract the source code of the Application, translate the Application into other languages, or create derivative versions are not permitted. All trademarks, copyrights, database rights, and other intellectual property rights related to the Application remain the property of the Service Provider.

Not a substitute for professional advice

CarLog AI provides maintenance tracking, reminders, diagnostic readings, and AI-generated guidance for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for inspection, diagnosis, or repair by a qualified mechanic. AI-generated responses may be incomplete or incorrect. Always consult a professional for safety-critical decisions about your vehicle, and never rely solely on the Application to determine whether a vehicle is safe to drive. You are responsible for your vehicle’s maintenance and roadworthiness.

Community content

You are responsible for content you post. Do not post unlawful, abusive, harassing, deceptive, or infringing content, or content that reveals other people’s personal information. We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these terms. The Application provides tools to report and block other users.

Subscriptions

CarLog AI Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed through Google Play. Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in the Google Play Store. Refunds are handled according to Google Play’s refund policy.

Connectivity, devices, and third-party services

Some features require an active internet connection, and the Service Provider is not responsible for reduced functionality caused by lack of connectivity, data charges from your carrier, or a depleted battery. The Application relies on third-party services, including Google Play Services, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and OpenStreetMap, which have their own terms:

Limitation of liability

The Application is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service Provider is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Application, including vehicle damage, missed maintenance, or reliance on AI-generated guidance.

Updates and termination

The Service Provider may update the Application or discontinue it at any time. On termination, your rights under these terms end and you must stop using the Application and delete it from your device.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
